Great news for the VoIP world: iCall, the maker of the iCall VoIP iPhone app that can catch a GSM call and flip it over to WiFi, has issued a press release saying that the new iPhone SDK allows for VoIP over 3G cellular connections.
Illegal Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) users have been giving sleepless nights to service providers in the Saarc region. In a recent development, Nepal’s state run operator Nepal Telecom (NT) has found that people operating illegal VoIP channels are costing it up to NPR 600 million ($8.38 million) per annum in lost revenues.
Microsoft has informed users of the latest iteration of its Windows client that they might come across issues when running VoIP applications on their computers. Audio playback and capture applications can hang when used in combination with Windows 7. The software giant revealed that applications performing audio playback and audio capture simultaneously were typically VoIP software. Windows 7 customers running VoIP solutions can often experience hangs, Microsoft stated.
However, the good news is that Microsoft has confirmed and even identified the source of the problem and it is expected that a fix for this will be available soon.
